Lisa Grogan-Green M.S.C., Co-Chair

My name is Lisa Grogan-Green. I am a former print journalist who became involved in a school yard revitalization at Bedford Park Public School in 1999-2002. The redevelopment was initiated with my GGYC co-chair, Nick Stefanoff, who was the Bedford Park principal at that time. I’ve been involved with GGYC since 2010 because the two projects were inspired by the landscape architect Michael Hough. Hough sadly passed away in early 2013 with the project in its infancy. The design drawing was developed by the landscape architect Shompa Hai and the site plan and working drawings were refined and developed by Victor Ford & Associates.

My favourite part about this organization is watching young people develop. Our youth coaches & tutors assume significant leadership responsibility, demonstrate initiative and form close bonds that inspire those they teach. I live  nearby in Lawrence Park and can often be found in the Toronto ravines walking with my dog Stella.

Nick Stefanoff, Co-Chair

My name is Nick Stefanoff. I am  one of our Centre’s founders &  co-chair with Lisa Green. I am a retired educator and former principal of Valley Park Middle School. I love that many of the children we serve eventually become youth leaders themselves at GGYC.

One of my favourite memories was our first Go Green sleep over at Valley Park. It involved a big turnout from our community, lots of food, sweet tea, entertainment & watching a World Cricket Championship match between Pakistan and India at 4am on a big screen in our cafeteria.

Ali Baig, Treasurer

My name is Ali Baig. I am treasurer at Go Green Youth Centre.

I am the founder and owner of Green Bird Electric Solutions, Inc., and I have been working in the electrical industry in Canada since 1987. Green Bird focuses on providing clients with top tier industrial solutions for energy conservation, lighting, CCTV, automation, and control. I have served as an executive on school councils, condominium boards, community councils, and local political associations. I am also a long-term member of Flemingdon, Thorncliffe, and the Leaside community and have provided support to youth, seniors, and adults in the neighbourhood.

Sumaira Tariq, Secretary

My name is Julie Dasoo. I have been working at Valley Park Middle School for over a decade in the morning breakfast program and after school Beyond 3:30 programs.

My favourite part of this organization is seeing the youth we serve flourish as community leaders. My kids went to VPMS and the neighbouring Marc Garneau high school. My family and I have lived in Flemingdon Park and Thorncliffe Park for over 30 years.

I’m Mazhar. I’ve been involved with the Go Green Youth Centre since 2010 as a board member. I live in Flemingdon Park with my wife Summra and two sons Ahmed and Ahsan.

I’m Abeir (A-beer). I’ve been involved with Go Green Youth Centre since I was a student at Valley Park Middle School. My favourite thing about this organization is the impact it has on communities with its physical site and youth programming. I enjoy watching the dynamism on the site during the spring and summer seasons! I graduated from the University of Toronto and work in conflict management consulting.

Hi I’m Gerri. It was my honour to represent the community and local schools as an elected school trustee for 33 years on the Toronto School Board. I joined as a director at GGYC because this community is vibrant, hospitable, and remarkable.  Parents strive to provide their children with the best experiences and opportunities
